Later in 2013, the NMC will require registered nurses to self declare that they have sufficient indemnity insurance.
1) Staff permanently employed in the NHS and Private Sector will be covered by their employers insurance (vicarious liability). Private Sector members should be asked to confirm with their employers.
2) UNISON members automatically have additional indemnity insurance as part of their membership. Therefore there is NO need for nurse members to take more insurance.
3) New registrants will need to confirm that they will get insurance when they get a job (of course UNISON members already comply through their membership).
