Branch Negotiator's Update

Welcome to the August 2013 edition of Branch Negotiators’ Update. The links below

UNISON is surveying all branches on zero hours contracts. The information gathered will
help UNISON to engage with the media and politicians in our campaign to stop and reverse
the spread of zero hours contracts. We are seeking one response per branch.

entitlement and enforcement

Revised factsheet on organising and negotiating over disability leave

A revised health and safety guide to tackling the violence that staff can face in the
workplace from service users

A sector by sector summary of major pay settlements reached across the economy over
the last six months

Video from the Office of National Statistics summarising the latest changes in the value of
the economy and longer term trends over the course of the recession

Article making the case for the living wage to form the bottom rate of pay in local

Details of a one day conference to be held in October by the Institute of Employment to
explore government proposals to amend the TUPE regulations, which are anticipated for
publication in the autumn

·         Pay growth rates have been dramatically affected by the reclassification of English Further Education and Sixth Form College Corporations as private sector in June 2012. The Office of National Statistics estimates that the single month growth rate for the public sector would be between 0.6 and 0.8% lower and the private rate would be between 0.1 and 0.2% higher.
