The Health and Sport Committee agreed to hold a full session on this issue on 14th June.
They summoned the Chief Executive of HCPC from London to justify the 12.5% increase and gave us an opportunity to set out our case.
As the Scottish Government health minister was supporting the increase, the SNP majority on the committee predictably voted against the motion to annul the increase. However, we at least ensured that the increase received proper parliamentary scrutiny and that may ensure that they won’t be as quick in future to bring large increases to the parliament.
I have summarised the issue in the Public Works blog:
Thanks to those branches who engaged with their MSPs on this issue.
